05:08 : Rando dead to display the danger, despite not being the most suitable target. 05:40 : Alright, so at this point, only hubris can defeat the Grounders. If they just AFK outside the walls for a week, this fight is ezpz. Sun Tzu repeated, maybe more than anything, the importance of not getting into sieges. However, he also cautioned against cornering enemies with no route to escape. I think even he would siege here. 06:05 : I take it back. Clarke had told Anya that more were coming, from the sky, with better weapons. We're way past the time she indicated but maybe there is some reason for urgency and caution, on the side of the Grounders. There's no way for them to know the limitations of sky people. 07:18 : She's definitely not a Grounder but I can appreciate enthusiasm. 08:35 : Wait, what? The bomb at the bridge was Finn's plan? How did Bellamy end up owning this? 09:04 : It's an unhinged plan, so you know I'm in. 11:21 : Nightmare scenario. There are a lot of ways to lose use of your limbs and any sign or symptom of any one of them is super spooky, as a result. 13:10 : Finn still out here wrangling for his threesome fantasy. 0 points. 15:15 : It's a subtle horror, to think about being the one man left behind in space - left to die alone. 15:40 : Props to Kane. He knows his duty and is willing to do it. I really think they should just wait for Sinclair and accept any landing zone, but that wouldn't make the rest of the show work. I get it. I just think there's some avoidable tragedy coming. 17:00 : There's a racial joke to be made here about how much faster Jaha got there than Kane. Either launching would have been acceptable. It doesn't wipe away all his crimes of classism, but it does display a legitimate willingness to sacrifice for those left. 22:07 : A lot of very interesting stuff just packed in, right there. Murphy got got but had taken a radio. He also didn't tell the Grounders about the minefield. I /think/ he knew about it? It /seems/ like he wants to return to the group at some point? I'm really curiou how things will proceed for him. He seems kinda hosed. The Grounders clearly have some understanding of how to fight guns and I don't think that came from Murphy. Not really related, but Anya looks so badass with the crown and the war paint. Her hair is just next level. 22:55 : The resolution and darkness I'm watching at makes it hard to tell the finer details of this scene. The scream Miller gives at this moment is just too funny, though. 23:07 : Awwww shiiiiit. Love to see it. 25:13 : I don't want Raven to die. I haven't lost my love for her. I think the writers just aren't sure what to do with her, without Finn. 26:50 : It's a lot of Grounders. They're just kind of laying ontop of each other, on a slope, to display a large number. I don't think the actual terrain of this area required them to climb any slopes? 27:14 : You know, that was a really bad idea. 28:13 : I really don't like how they dunk on Jasper. I don't see her down there connecting wires. 29:15 : Aw, Bellamy finally came around to his sister's inteerracial relationship. I like that she still wants to fight, even though she clearly can't. 32:41 : Man, I don't know what "it" is but Anya has got it. Absolute Queen. 33:47 : Make it make sense. Explain to me how killing Anya is any different than pressing the button to kill a hundred Grounders. 35:26 : Hearing about it, knowing you'll never see it, is rough. As mentioned in the first episode, this stuff gets me every time. It's how I see our world. QQ 40:00 : I guess that explains why they know how to fight guns. I'd totally watch a prequel about Grounders vs Mountain Men. 41:35 : So much going on here. They know her name. Someone dressed her. Monty is here and has been for several days? They're inside Mount Weather and for some reason quarantined?
I'm glad I decided to do this. Even if nobody ever reads it (understandable), it's been great fun to write out my thoughts as I go along. I think it's really the humanity of it all that makes it land so much. There's too predictable deus ex machina for the story to make sense. I'm fairly certain the science doesn't shake out. But both the writing and the acting, they show these little glimmers that are either totally relatable or at least speak to some very Human fear. Jaha having to accept that he came close enough, Murphy wanting to see Bellamy hang, Jasper being afraid to leave camp, the moral dilemmas at every turn - I believe we all have these things inside us and that there is value in watchign them play out in fiction.
It's been a great ride. I will likely take some time before hitting season 2. If you have questions, comments, concerns, or complaints - just email me. I'd love to hear from other Humans.
