Episode 3

00:45 : WHAT?! A PRISONER was allowed to keep personal effects, in a world where taking an extra donut gets you EXECUTED? 01:37 : "147 years ago", gives me some time reference, I suppose. Although, the game could be from way before things ended. I probably should have payed more attention in Episode 1? 02:33 : "Will you just die already?", is such a realistic line. I love it. 03:13 : Charlotte is so young. It's a little crazy to think that she was imprisoned, rather than whoever was responsible for her. Jaha has some xplaining to do. 04:10 : A 10 year old is fundamentally incapable of assaulting a guard. There is no scenario where the guard isn't at fault for getting got. 06:00 : Acid fog seems like a pretty big deal. 07:42 : Yeah, fuck Wells 08:00 : I thought she said that the Grounders cauterized the wound? I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure she's even more lost than I am. 08:18 : "Am I being too subtle?" - This question could have saved so much heartache on our planet. Ladies, just ask~ 08:46 : "You pay the price, now we're good." - I wish this was how the American justice system worked. How can you pay your debt to society, if it follows you around forever? 11:14 : What exactly would the risk of anarchy be? Errybody dead anyway. She just gets worse, every single time she opens her mouth. 13:57 : 1) How am I more tired of Wells than the girl whose dad he killed? 2) "This car has been here a hundred years". So, we are only 100 years removed from life on Earth? How many Zero-G mechanics is that? 15:02 : "Well, who knows? Maybe you're good at it?", has actually burrowed itself into my psyche. I think it's a valid motivational tactic for trying new things. 17:16 : Whatever law he's breaking by telling citizens about a technology failure is so well known that Wells understands instantly. I've tried every way I can think to phrase a law that Jake might be breaking but I just can't. 19:19 : I'm not even a drinker but : go fuck yourself Wells 24:11 : I don't think the physics of this one bear out. No way John Murphy is that strong! Points to Octavia for commiting violence to protect Jasper, though. 24:20 : Octavia ripping this metal bar off the wall is where we have to abandon physics for this entire show, I think. 25:21 : If we've already assumed that telling folks is a crime, does it really matter how he does it? 25:46 : Ope! Didn't see that coming! 27:00 : Even Finn, assumedly not a noble, understands it was an obvious crime. 28:56 : Honestly horrific. I was unprepared. 32:08 : This scene does so much to develop Bellamy and Clarke. I really like a lot of the small things. Bellamy not wanting to kill someone that's even begging for it. While we may have previously assumed that he's just a dick and a coward, we now see that he's actually just a scared kid. He's in the same boat as everyone else. Clarke singing while she kills "because she has to". It's not so much that it was the only option but that she didn't know a better way. I actually think zooming to Charlotte at the end takes a bit away from the scene. 33:32 : Honestly, I can see that Murphy has had about enough of this crap. I kind of don't blame him. 35:48 : I only like one of the people in this room and this scene still punches me in the tears every time. It's hard to sacrifice. It's 10x harder to sacrifice, with people you care about watching. 36:00 : This is the first time we see someone get floated. Unnecessarily cruel and horrific. It's actually so much worse than just baseline killing people. 38:20 : Wells gains no points for this. 41:00 : Absolutely did not see that coming the first time. I am not displeased. 41:47 : The actress for Charlotte does such a good job sending this episode off. Love it.

It's still only episode 3, but the show is starting to take shape. I'm learning the rules. The cool kids can do whatever they want and we sacrifice minor characters to demonstrate the danger. The first hints of who these characters will be are starting to show. I'm glad Wells is out so early. I suspect we're going to continue playing fast and loose with both the timeline and the structure of the Ark. That's not a problem at all, for me!
