03:36 : Hyyyypooocrrrritteeee~ 04:00 : "Population reduction" is a term I've heard in real life. It's truly chilling. "Excised from the grid" is some truly Carlinian language. 04:58 : Well, that didn't take much convincing. 10:15 : Generally, young kids in a TV show is just a cheap ploy to tug on the heartstrings of viewers. That's certainly the case here, but it just worked so well on me QQ. Even on the rewatch, this kid gets me every time. 10:49 : "She's strong", "She shouldn't have to be", is an exchange that lives in my soul. It is maybe the most concise way to express when things are truly beyond the pale. 14:32 : Kane is the reason that the state should not have the power to lie to citizens or kill them. If those two things aren't off the table entirely, only bad things follow. 15:50 : So, Jaha seems legitimately prepared to die. However, he fails to gain any points because he wants to maintain the lie. His death would serve no purpose in that circumstance. I think the angle of, "How do you decide who has to die?" and "A leader should be willing to do anything they would ask others to do" are both super interesting. Unfortunately, we get none of that because Jaha is just a sad man with nothing left to sacrifice. 18:00 : Skettios! 18:14 : LMAO, strong attempt from Finn to diffuse the situation. 21:11 : Idk, coma plan sounded reasonable to me. 23:07 : I don't know how else to say this, but whenever Octavia runs it reminds me of Power Rangers. She's just so physically goofy. 23:45 : Raven has no chill and I'm here for it. 26:17 : I'm going to stop mentioning it, but just imagine I'm always mad that Abby assumes no consequences. 28:45 : Right in the feels, every time. Don't mind me just sobbing at the beauty of sacrifice for the rest of the episode QQ. 29:44 : However, it's also another iteration of the writers coming up with an interesting dilemma and then copping out. I hate it. 31:35 : I do love the entire dirty sweatshirt gang aesthetic, but Jaha is working this vest. 34:15 : Ain't that the truth. 35:44 : This is the first moment that I respected Jaha. I do think there's value in not making another person press the button. 39:10 : Alright, to be honest, I forgot about Octavia, too.
The concept of sacrificing for others is something that hits me very deep. This episode is a hard watch for me. Honestly, I usually start my rewatches with Episode 6. Raven brings me joy. Octavia is in trouble. Finn is just the worst. Bellamy has been exposed as "just a selfish dick" but I don't anticipate consequences for anyone in the cool kids club.
